The Caribbean-American Commentary Newspapers genesis
was
triggered by the glaring absence of an depth journalistic vehicle in
South
Florida to address the critical role this ethnic group is playing in
international, national, regional and local politics and
the economic stability
of the Caribbean.
OUR MISSION
From
the first issue of Caribbean Commentary magazine in January 1989,
we have attempted to bridge the gap between the ethnic minorities and the
traditional
community in South Florida. Furthermore, our main objective has been
economic
empowerment, cultural diversity and tolerance.
We recognize the need for a weekly Caribbean‑oriented newspaper in South
Florida to
highlight the numerous issues and events that impact on this burgeoning
population in
the fastest growing state in this country. In the next ten years, Florida
will replace New York
as the second largest state and the Caribbean immigrants are sign'rlicant
‑players in,
this exponential growth‑and development.
The Caribbean‑American Commentary Newspaper's genesis is due to the
glaring
absence of a journalistic vehicle to address the critical role this ethnic
group is playing
in local, regional and national politics, the economic growth and
development of
Florida and stability of the Caribbean:
The remittances sent to Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean has been
recognized by that
region's political and financial leaders, However, major corporations and
political leaders
within North America continue to ignore the political and economic clout
of this ethnic
minority within their midst The Caribbean‑American Commentary Newspaper
intends
to bring to the attention of the corporate giants the presence of Caribbean
residents
and the role they play in their profit margins, We hasten to point out
that Jamaica is
the number one client for Western
Union in its entire global operations. As in the case
of the role that Caribbean consumers play in Western Union, it is a strikingly
similar
role this ethnic group plays in the Florida's political landscape.
Readers of The Caribbean‑American Commentary Newspaper are
sophisticated
consumers and with the African‑American consumers in South Florida, spend
more than
3 billion dollars on an annual basis within the state of Florida. With the
thousands of Caribbean
business people and tourists who visit Florida especially the Tri‑County
of Miami Dade,
Broward and Palm Beach and the entertainment centers in Orlando, it can be said
that the
Caribbean consumers are on an equal footing with any other ethnic group in terms
of
spending power.
We shall not depart from our mission of racial and gender empowerment of
the former
dispossessed groups in North America and the Caribbean. We shall not
compromise
our intellectual and journalistic honesty on behalf of Permanent
Underclass.
Our motto is truth and justice prevail in the end over all forms of inequities
and exploitation.
