There are exciting developments taking place at one of the oldest historic Black Colleges/Universities off the Palmetto Expressway at 15800 NW 42nd Avenue in Miami, Florida. One such exciting academic program is the Black Executive Exchange Program which is championed on an annual basis by the College¹s Career Development Center administered by its efficient staff of Ms. Althena S. Jackson, M.PA, Director, Steven Davis, M.S., Assistant Director and Ms. Sheryl Hampton Bain, Administrative Assistant. No stone is left unturned in order to bring Black professional elites from major Corporations and successful Black companies to campus for a week-end to showcase their expertise and share their experiences with professors and students from the various disciplines on Campus.

This year BEEP took place from February 11th 13th. The Administrative and Academic staff of President Albert E. Smith, PhD; Senior Executive Vice President and provost Karl Wright PH.D; Dr. Sandra Thompson, Assistant Provost Academic Affairs and Dr. Barbara Edwards, Vice President, Institutional Advancement have to be very pleased with the Dubosian Talented Tenth which shared their paths to success with students. Most of these Black professionals are Affirmative Action¹s products and they were introduced to some of the students on Wednesday evening February 11, 2004 at a reception on their behalf which was well attended by the College¹s academic/administrative hierarchies and students who were looking forward to have direct academic/mentoring experiences on the following two days.

Those who came from far and close by included the following, Alix J.M. Appolon, Regional Legal Counsel UPS (Miami), Dr. Chad Cooper, CEO, A Wealthy Place Corporation, Miami, Lt. (LtJG) Thomas Shuler, - Coast Guard Air Station, (Miami), Dr. Rovan Locke, Publisher, Caribbean American Commentary Newspaper, David Reece, Business Development Director, The Vista School, Coral Springs, Fla; Ron Carryl, Manager of Recruiting and Selection, FPL Juno Beach, Fl, Davida Nelums Director, Business Operations, Michael K. Owens, Region Plant Engineering Manager, Kentucky, Archie Giles, President AJA CC Holdings, North Miami Beach,; John D. Glover DPA John Glover, Consulting Inc., Mark Horton M.S. President, Online Services Miami, John Fountain, PhD. ,Verizon, Virginia, Ms. Maryann McMillian Sweet Associate Manager, AIG; Charles D. Johnson Director, Human Resources, Office Depot and Ms. Barbara Howard.
A decade ago, this mentoring program had only four Black Professional elites at its inaugural session. At the mid-February session, there were sixty-nine participants. There was another more ³upscale² reception at the Don Shula¹s Hotel and Resort in Miami Lakes, immediately after the Campus reception. It was an enjoyable evening of networking. This BEEP is an institutionalized aspect of students¹ lives on Black Historic Colleges and Universities. The Annual National Conference will be held in mid-June 2004, on the Florida Memorial College Campus.
